Drayton United Church Hall, 282 Havant Road, Drayton, Portsmouth

Acting Up Drama School is fast approaching its 14th year. We provide training in drama and singing for young people aged 4-18 years, helping to develop confidence, physical awareness and communicational skills and most importantly being educational and fun.
All children are given opportunity to achieve their potential but because we understand that all children are different students are encouraged to make progress at the rate that suits individual needs.
Children that attend Acting Up take part in improvisation as well as scripted work and enjoy games which develop drama skills and encourage teamwork which is so important to belonging to a company. However Acting Up reaches beyong the normal after school clubs and extends the opportunity for students to take internationally recognised drama exams. Every year we perform a Musical Theatre show in a local theatre where every child is given a chance to shine.
In addition opportunities exist for students to be offered professional work in film, TV, theatre and modelling with a reputable agency. Current students can be seen now in TV commercials for B&Q, Iceland and St Johns Ambulance.
All our teachers are qualified and CRB checked. Two of our staff hold a current Paediatric First Aid certificate and we have licensed matrons to assist at our shows so you know your child will be in safe hands.

Support Bench Theatre
The easiest (and most entertaining) way to support Bench Theatre is to come and see our productions, most of which are held at The Spring Arts and Heritage Centre, Havant. More information about forthcoming performances is on our home page. If you already come along, please help us further by spreading the word and bringing your friends.
Get Involved
Especially if you're interested in getting involved, one of the best ways to get the measure of the company is to come along and meet us at a show or a club night. Many new members have told us how welcome and included we've made them feel, and the social life which can go with becoming a Bench member is an added bonus. You can find out most things about us from our website too; reading about our history and our productions will give you a feel for the sort of company we are. If you would like to join, we are always keen to welcome new members, both active on and off the stage.
Membership
Most importantly, we're keen to include anyone with the enthusiasm to be part of Bench Theatre; whilst you will audition to act in a show, you DON'T need to audition to join the comapany.
