Minerva Youth Theatre

Lanarkshire, Rutherglen

MYT is run by a group of volunteers who each have experience on stage and backstage and are committed to the encouragement and development of musical theatre among young people in the West of Scotland.
We produce one show each year and unlike many youth theatre groups we do not position ourselves as a drama school offering tuition and classes etc. but encourage our children to enjoy performing and to discover theatre by taking part in a show rather than our providing lessons.
We audition new members in August each year and then rehearsals are held on Sunday afternoons at Wardlawhill West Church halls in Rutherglen from August till February when we perform our show.

MONKLANDS LIGHT OPERA

Airdrie

Ever thought of appearing on stage - or working with us to make a success of theatrical productions? Maybe you've appeared in the past and are looking for a congenial crew with whom to re-start. Either way, we'd be delighted if you considered our Society.
The only criteria are the desire and the ability to contribute to our efforts. Not all our members perform on stage. We are privileged to have a first class stage crew, a prestigious front of house team and other non-performing folk.
Naturally, though, most of our members want to perform, singing, acting, dancing or all three. Prospective singing members are asked to sing a few lines to establish that they can sing in tune and which vocal section they should join.
If you're interested in possibly joining the Society, we recommend that you arrange to visit us at a regular rehearsal to see what it's all about. Contact the secretary so that we can expect you, and ensure you know where and when the rehearsal is taking place. (Our regular rehearsal night for the whole company is Monday. Principals rehearse Thursday.)
New singing members are asked to sing some notes to convince the MD that they can sing in tune and so that he can place them in the appropriate section.
We apply strict rules on the auditioning for principal parts and only fully paid up members adhering to them may audition.

If you're interested in joining the Society, why not visit us at a regular rehearsal to see what we’re about? Contact the secretary so that we can expect you, and ensure you know where and when the rehearsal is taking place. (Our regular rehearsal night for the whole company is Thursday. Principals rehearse more often.)
We encourage all members to audition for principal parts. Our auditioning process is as transparent and fair as we can make it. We now hold open auditions for principal roles and dancers, the conditions for which are published nearer the time.
