Lyme Regis Operatic Society

Lyme Regis

The Society was founded in 1920 and gave its first production in 1921 - The Mikado. An original programme and press reviews of the show survive together with some publicity photographs. Some members of The Lyme Regis Choral Society decided that a wider audience could be reached if contemporary operatic performances were presented. The result was a change of name to the Lyme Regis Choral and Operatic Society and The Mikado, which was so popular that more performances followed. Today the Lyme Regis Operatic Society presents a major production each May and carries on the traditions founded in 1920. The Society is renowned for the strength of its chorus, which is founded upon the good works of today's President Mr. Brian Manners, who, as Head of Music for many years at the local Woodroffe School trained a good proportion of the current members. Brian was Musical Director of the Society for a considerable period and even today acts as our repetiteur. In 1971 the Society presented "Golden Revenge" written by Roy Deasy with music by Brian. This show was written to celebrate the Golden Anniversary of the Society and the Revenge comes from a small fishing boat "The Revenge of Lyme" known to have sailed from Plymouth to engage the Spanish Armada. This show deserves to be heard again.

MADLot (Mosterton Amateur Dramaticians Lot)

Mosterton

We are a group of adults and children who love performing and raising money for local groups.
This is either through a pantomime, normally performed in February, or a show of music, comedy and dance.
MADLot were started in 2001 to assist in raising funds for the Mosterton playgroup, the first production being in February 2002, and have continued to raise money for local groups since. These include the village hall committee, air ambulance and Parrett and Axe school.
We are very fortunate to have a wonderful Director in Mandy Downing, whose drive, enthusiasm, vision and energy puts a motley assembly of amateurs through their paces and onto the stage, building confidence in people and having fun along the way.
We are always looking for new members, not necessarily to perform but also to do the multitude of roles behind the scenes; running the raffle, make-up, advertising, costumes, props, sound, lighting etc. If anyone is interested in helping out, please contact us via Facebook.

Milton Musical Society

Christchurch

We are a very friendly musical theatre company based in New Milton on the beautiful Hampshire coast and now in our 40th year of performing! Over the years members have come and gone but we still have at least one of our original members and today, we can boast, a membership ranging from 8 to 85. We keep ourselves up to date with all the news through our Newsletter.
Of course, the main focus of our activities is the performance of popular musicals and we perform one big show each year at the Regent Centre Theatre. In April 2013 we present the spectacular \‘RAGTIME\’. Each November we also do a show to encourage and develop new talent.
If this sounds like the sort of fun you would like to have whether you are a performer, a director, a choreographer, have talents in make up, sewing, or just want to be involved we would love to hear from you. We also have great social events!
Of course, in order to perform the shows there is a huge amount of work that needs to go on way before we take to the stage for 'opening night'. Hopefully this web site will give you the information you are seeking about the company and what we do.

Paranoid Dramatics was established in 2012 by a group of bus drivers and their friends. The aim of the group was to bring sci-fi and horror to the stage. Our first production was a stage adaptation of 'ALIEN', which has enabled us to gain a yearly contract to perform at the Leicester Square Theatre in London's West End. We are constantly on the look out for new people to join our ranks and welcome any level of performer. We are also looking for people to help with backstage and front of house.

The Preston Village Hall, Preston Road, Preston DT3 6BH

Preston Pantomime Group (Or PPG as we are also known) are an amateur dramatics group. Each year we put on a pantomime in an aim to raise money for local charities.
The members of the group are of all ages and from all walks of life. We come together on a weekly basis to rehearse and enjoy ourselves. New members are always welcome, we just ask that you share our enthusiasm for performing and fun.
Our pantomimes are entertaining, fun – filled and action packed. The traditional “it’s behind you…” "oh no its not...." and boos and hisses are always encouraged!
Founded in 1979, our successful group has entertained many generations of families. Starting on the stage at the Scutt Hall we then made our way to Pontins Riviera in 1984. Shortly after in 1986 we found ourselves at the Preston Village Hall where we remain today, on wednesday nights 7:30pm-10:00pm
