Masquerade Musical Theatre

St Thomas’ Church, Garretts Green Lane, Sheldon, Birmingham B26 2SA

Masquerade is an exciting and fun youth theatre group. We take part in, and produce many performances, whilst pupils are also given the opportunity to take Musical Theatre examinations.
Lessons are held on a weekly basis on a Wednesday after school. We take pupils from age 4 upwards and can cater for any ability, including special needs.
Musical theatre covers drama, singing and dance. Pupils take part in and learn all three of these disciplines.
Our performances to date have been numerous and with great variety. We have featured in shows at the Solihull Arts Complex performing Oliver!, Bugsy Malone and Calamity Jane medleys. We have also performed at the Artrix in Bromsgrove on a number of occasions.
Our pupils are regularly entered into examinations. This encourages work at high standards and develops new and improved skills. The exam system allows work to be officially recognized by outside education bodies. All exams are accredited to the STSD, the PTD and the CDET (Council for Dance Education and Training).
As well as developing their performance abilities, our pupils have gained from an improved self-confidence which they have taken into their everyday lives at school, college and amongst friends.
Our overall aim is that pupils gain skills in acting and performing, have fun and make new friends, whilst experiencing the magical world of musical theatre.

What we do
PQA is a weekend performing arts academy providing tuition for children and young people from 4-18 years. Students spend three hours with us, rotating through hour-long sessions in comedy & drama, musical theatre and film & television. Students are split into groups according to their age and are taught by specialist teachers.
Our Mission
By working with people we believe are outstanding in their field, we aim to provide our students with a constantly evolving experience – something that is fresh, exciting and bang up-to-date. We want to instil the benefits of the performing arts into a new generation of young people, helping them to realise their potential, grow as individuals and become the people they want to be as they learn skills valuable for everyday life, not just the performing arts. And if our students have the ambition, we want to teach them the skills and give them the support to make it happen. Above all, we encourage our students to be amazing, just by being themselves.
Ages 4-18
Saturday mornings from 10am until 1pm

How we do it
The PQA model has been put together by people who work professionally in the performing arts, entertainment industry and education sector. It means our classes deliver high educational value combined with realistic industry practice and our students get the best possible experience.
Your local academy is run by an experienced, dedicated professional who has proven to us they have the passion, drive and dedication to deliver a really different performing arts education. We do not charge franchise fees to own a PQA because we place most value on having the right person in charge and would rather those people used their resources to invest in the Academy, rather than pay us. All staff undergo a rigorous recruitment procedure (naturally including an enhanced CRB check) and we provide support and training enabling them to work at the top of their game so they can help your children reach the top of theirs.
