c/o 2a Eskdale Road, Whitby, North Yorkshire, YO22 4JJWhitby’s Apollo Players were formed in the late 1960’s initially as a dramatic society with the view to stage plays. Our first pantomime production was in 1971 and, with the exception of 1976, we have presented a pantomime every January since then at Whitby Pavilion Theatre. Pantomime will always be the Apollo Players main forte but in the past the Players have staged plays, musical shows, variety and revue shows. 2016 saw the players present their 45th annual pantomime production at Whitby Pavilion Theatre. In more recent years the society branched out from its pantomime roots and has presented special one night only shows on Broadway, at the Movies, a special Eurovision tribute and Back to the 60's....all proving to be a success and showcasing the society's talents beyond the pantomime stage. Summer 2014 saw the society present a full length stage play version of Noddy. We're always on the lookout for new members to join our ranks both on stage and off! Perhaps you fancy a go at acting and singing or maybe you're an expert with a paintbrush? We'd love to hear from you. You can contact us via email: Contact: info@whitbysapolloplayers.co.uk |

YorkWildgoose Theatre was formed in 2010, with a declared aim to present plays that had not been seen in York. We intend to attract the very best of York’s actors, directors and other talented individuals to achieve that aim. We intend to present interesting and entertaining work in small theatres in and around York. Our productions so far include Joe Orton's 'Entertaining Mr Sloane' and Frank McGuinness's magnificent hostage play 'Someone Who'll Watch Over Me'. We were surprised to find that five years had passed since our last outing - we have all been busy with other groups and projects in York - but we will be back with a vengeance in October 2016, with another gem from Frank McGuinness. 'Gates Of Gold' is classic McGuinness, being a funny and heartbreaking study of love and humanity. If you would like to be involved with Wildgoose Theatre, in any way, please contact us drama@wildgoosetheatre.com |
Barnsley, South YorkshireIt's now nearly 80 years since the society was formed as in 1933 it presented its first show. That show was The Mikado and proved to be the first of many highly successful shows. This prompted the society to widen its horizons as over the years it progressed through Romberg,Novello, Rogers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Loewe, Porter and Bart always presenting high quality shows to ever appreciative audiences. However "named " shows are only part of the story. The membership of the society had the foresight to take advantage of a situation in which a local chapel was sadly being closed. By purchasing this chapel and developing the building, the "Operatic Theatre" was created and now stands proudly in George Street,Wombwell, testament to hard work and enterprise and the envy of so many other societies. It was this foresight which enables us now(thanks to the facilities at our disposal)to present a minimum of 5 shows per year. We have a wonderful tradition to maintain at Wombwell and you too can be part of it. All new members are welcome to join us. If you can sing, dance or act... you could be part of the performing team. If you can wield a paint brush...you can be part of the maintenance team. If you can handle a needle...you could be part of the sewing team. If you can make coffee...you are welcomed with open arms by all teams !! If you want to sit back and be entertained ...welcome to our audience. You'll be part of a very happy crowd. webmaster@wombwelloperatic.com The Wombwell Amateur Operatic Society Youth Section All are welcome to join us between the ages of 8 and 15 years of age. |

Sheffield, South YorkshireWoodseats is one of the oldest running amateur musical theatre companies in Sheffield, having started in 1945 with a production of The Gondoliers at Holmehurst Church, in Woodseats, of course! Since then the company went from strength to strength with some visionary people at the helm, which culminated in Woodseats performing at the Lyceum Theatre. They were awarded Musical of the Year in 2003 and 2004. It has now been 4 years since Woodseats trod the boards (June 2005 with Guys & Dolls). However, they have never been disbanded, they have just been 'Resting', as they say in the business. They are now planning a come back... Contact via our website or social media |
